Lighting: 1 pt Describe the lighting in the shot. Where is the light coming from? How is it falling on the models face/head/body?Describe the shadows that are created in the photo. The lighting in the photo of Noah is coming from a red light positioned to the right and in front of him. This illuminates his face and torso while creating a small shadow on the left side of his face and shoulder.
Position of the Model: 1 pt How is the model situated? Is the photo a head shot, or did you include more of the torso? Is the model facing the camera, looking to the side, tilting their head… I Included his head and most of his torso. He is looking beyond the camera making it a pretty interesting photograph.
Position of the Camera/Composition: 2 pts Did you take a horizontal or vertical photo? What was your point of view? Did you shoot from above, below, from the side or on an angle? How close or far were you from the model? I took the photo vertically and stood a little bit to the left so that he would not be looking straight into the camera.
Impact/Expression: 1 pt What does the lighting, position of model and expression on face communicate? What aspect of the model’s personality is being revealed in the portrait? (serious, humorous, sad, anxious…) Noah sort of has an inquisitive look on his face. He appears to be in deep thought which is a characteristic of personality brought out by the image. Compare and contrast: 3 pts Compare the photo to another with a different impact/viewer response. How did you use different lighting, positioning or expression to communicate a different feeling? In the picture of Liam positioned like a pregnant women, the bottom half of the image is darkened so that his pregnant stomach and up is highlighted. He has a look of joy on his face, creating a much different feeling than the picture of Noah.
